Other information about our organization
What does it mean to buy or lease a farm already permanently protected with an agricultural preservation restriction (APR), or to consider placing yours under this paid restriction?

How does the 5 or 10 year restriction included in the Farm Viability Enhancement Program (Farm Viability) differ from APR, and how might it fit with your plans to transition your farm?

We also offer business planning courses for farms addressing changes in market, ownership and/or management.

The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) is a State Agency of the Commonwealth devoted to serving the needs of existing agricultural enterprises. Our roles include regulatory enforcement, agricultural land protection, licensing, farm advocacy, marketing assistance and business planning. All farms in Massachusetts are eligible for MDAR services. Some of our programs include financial incentives. Some have small administrative fees.
